I have produced some addons to Empire Deluxe Internet Edition (EDIE) from Killerbee Software (also called Empire deluxe 3.5). I'll announce new addons on the yahoo empire deluxe mailinglist.
People new to playing Empire Deluxe games against human players at Advantage 3 settings are often surprised how fast experienced players can expand. Here's an opportunity to test your expansion speed on a typical map. In the testempo.zip (15kB) you get a savegame (old 3.11 or new EDIE) and a text file with instructions and speeds of expert players who played this exact game.
From the guy who invented cities on grass, see now the latest in unit design: ships on water!
This
zip file contains 7 classic unit sheets compatible with Wydraz's
terrain that comes with Empire 3.5 (EDIE). I took the units from
Empire deluxe 3.12 running on a 16-bit display, at zoom level 1; the
city graphics were provided by Killerbee. You can recognize this set
by the coat of arms with the three '+'. Also included is an ED.INI
excerpt to help you install these units.
The units_wydel_Lx24
set contains these 7 colors: red
, green
, cyan
, magenta
, blue
, yellow/brown
, and
light
orange .
More Colors: Since the unit sheet uses single palette colors for the primary and secondary colors, making differently colored units is a cinch. If you can't do it yourself, just email me and state your color preferences (attach a small sample or tell me the RGB values). Anything goes (e.g. yellow on blue , or green on yellow ).
Technical Notes on the design process are here - terrain and unit designers, please read.
Why work in 16x16? This resolution is used by Empire deluxe 3.12 for Zoom level 2, and by EDIE for Zoom level 3 (if you haven't changed it). The screen updates are less sluggish when both terrain and units already have the required resolution from the start.
This
zip file contains 15 classic unit sheets. I took the units from
Empire deluxe 3.12 running on a 16-bit display, at zoom level 2. I
added city graphics in the old look and a flag, then I generated
differently colored sets. (It would be nice if someone took the
trouble to compile the 16x16 terrain!) Also included are ED.INI
excerpts to help you install these units.
The units_classic_Sx16
set contains 7 sets colored the same as the units that come with
EDIE:red
, green
, cyan
, magenta
, blue
, yellow
, and orange
.
These colors are more saturated (hence
the S) than the colors used by Empire 3.12, so units_classic_x16
has 6 sets with the original colors red
, green
, cyan
, magenta
, blue
and
yellow/brown
, plus dark
orange (taken from the red-orange bug in 3.12)
and light
orange (from the ED3.5 .ini orange RGB
values).
